Fashionista: Warped Tour Chic!

First off I want to pay tribute to Michael Jackson and say may he rest in peace. He passed yesterday afternoon and was an absolute idol to people across the world. He was probably the most inspiring and influential icon in many peoples' lives and I am truly sad about his death. Every song of his has a memory to our current and past generations and I think that is one of the most powerful things a singer or artist can create. He will live on through his music. Viva forever, Michael <3.

The joy of fashion and dressing is an art; it does not exist without confidence.

Today is the official kick off of the Vans Warped Tour in Pomona! I will be there with some friends enjoying the start of summer =P

I've been to Warped Tour a few times before in the past, and the first thing that comes to mind when I think about it is those poor girls in their bikini tops and mini shorts or skirts. Hot body or not, I think its gross. There are plenty of other ways to stay cool while enjoying your favorite bands perform, so please just leave the bikini bar at home!

My favorite things for summer right now are: jumpsuits, jeweled sandals, and giant flower hair clips. i actually own almost everything in the outfit of the week that I'm posting, haha.  And I'm probably wearing it right now! So take my advice and try a comfortable jumpsuit and leave the shorts and t-shirt thing behind! They're so versatile and come in the cutest prints, you'll definitely be able to find the perfect one for you =]

Outfit of the Week:

Strapless Jersey Jumpsuit @ bcbg.com for $158

Pair with a gold sandal..

Matiko Sandal in gold @ couturecandy.com for $38

Pair with jeweled accents...

Tassel Cluster Necklace @ forever21.com for $5.80

Ellie bejeweled cluster cuff @ forever21.com for $8.80

Accessory of the Week:

An oversized patent bag is perfect for all your warped tour essentials: water bottles, sunglasses, digital camera, etc. Kathy Van Zeeland is one of my favorites, her bags always make a big statement.

Disco Daisy collection @ kathyvanzeeland.com $118

Random item of the Week:

For me, I always have to have Bath and Boday works body spray in my bag, especially during the summer because the heat and the sun can make you feel icky. Throw your favorite classic scent into your oversized bag and spray whenever necessary. You're going to need it! My faovrite right now is the Dancing Waters scent...

Bath and Body Works Dancing Waters spray @bathandbodyworks.com for $12.00

Now you're all set for your warped tour endeavors :)

Come say hi if you're going today to the one in Pomona!

cupcakes, katsu-ya, good company, and champagne.

This weekend was a ton of fun, sort of like a mini vacation for me! summer bbqs, family, and parties.

Anita had the most amazing party at her house on saturday! There was a bartender with an open bar, platters of sushi caterd from katsu-ya, and some amazing cupcakes =] Loved everyone there and anita and her brother arlen are so sweet. Its really hard to find such genuine friends in LA!

I always look so weird in photos next to her because she is so tiny! haha Im bending my knees to make it more even

romeo is the cutest dog in the world <3

I am excited for summer and especially warped tour on friday! We will be going to a few in August also. I'm looking forward to see some of my friend's bands perform and just relax with everyone =]

The one thing I am really weird about are candid photos. I have a pear shaped body and am really curvy so its super easy for me to look really unflattering in photos, and sometimes I even look twice my size! I hate it! =[

Are you the same way?? How was everyone's weekend?

Fashionista: Designer finds and bunny dusters!

"Don’t be into trends. Don’t make fashion own you. You decide what you are; what you want to express by the way you dress and the way you live."

Do you guys like my little fashion quotes I put at the top of these every week? I think they're cute and inspiring :)

I am sitting here watching charm school super sick in these amazing white skinny jeans that I recently ripped up and theyre brightening up my day a little more. My throat hurts and I am a little loopy on medication lol...but i am still here to perform my fashionista duties!

If there is one thing that i have learned in the past twenty years of my life, it is: you cannot put a price tag on good style, and in contrast, just because you spend big bucks on your wardrobe doesn't necessarily mean you have good style. Although expensive clothing is expensive and fabulous for a reason, anyone can look good if they know how to rock it and shop properly...my outfit of the week is a fun look for going out! It teaches us that designer outfits and big brand names can be yours without the original high retail price. If you don't have access to designer warehouses or factory events in downtown la, turn to ebay, where I found these amazing pieces for a steal...but be smart about it! Know the designer's aesthetics and be able to spot fake designs. The good stuff is out there, you just have to look!

& JUST BECAUSE THEYRE NOT CURRENT SEASON OR BRAND NEW DOESN'T MEAN THEY'RE NOT CUTE!

Outfit of the week:

Alexander McQueen top $26 @ ebay.com

Pair with...

Christian Dior skirt $59 @ ebay.com

Tuck the top into the high waist skirt and pull some of it out to give it a baggy feel with such a tailored skirt. SO CUTE!

Pair with...

bcbg max azria brown velvet jacket $15 @ ebay.com

Pair with...

Betsey Johnson Cierra shoe $80 @ ebay.com

Accessory of the week:

Bows aren't only cute on your head! Put them on your fingers too with an adorable bow ring :)

Present Bow ring $8.00 english pounds @ monsoon.co.uk

Random item of the week:

I bought this last week and its soooooo cute! Its a duster! But its too adorable to get dirty with dust so it just sits on my shelf =P

Dust Bunny Microfiber duster $14.99 @ perpetualkid.com

Do you shop ebay for good designer finds?

What do you think of the outfit I put together?

Do you think I'm silly for having that bunny duster? Haha

Let me know your thoughts!

Love always,

your fashionista xoxo

FASHION IS A STARVING ART.

Which is why this is one of the most difficult industries to break into.

If I wasn't so dedicated and all about this business, I would have given up a long time ago.

I have built a thick skin, I have worked with idiots, and I have learned to take rejection with a grain of salt. I have somewhat of an ego about my clothing and my brand and my business, and I think that if I didn't and were so modest about it, I would have listened to all those people that I have come across telling me to give up or change this and change that.

Don't let any other brand fool you. Unless they come up with the hundreds of thousands of dollars to start their label, advertise, and turn into this big clothing sensation in a fraction of the time it takes most others, this whole becoming-a-fashion-designer thing is not easy.

Its the strong drive that I have; the confidence, and the heartfelt passion for doing what I do that creates no doubt in my mind of my success. I know there will be one day, and probably a lot sooner than I think, that I will be that huge designer name that I have always dreamed about. I will look back on all my blessings, my luck, and the days where I went from bullshit job to bullshit job; to deciding not to finish college; to starting a half-ass career in real estate to support the starving period all artists endure, and be so grateful for prospering...for never giving up on the dream...for succeeding, and most importantly: knowing that I did it all myself.

One girl, one dream, and a hell of a lot of determination. I'm living in my own dream right this very second; so proud of everything I have done already...and so excited for the future!

This isn't easy for me, but I wouldn't be doing anything else with my life. I will never stop and I will never give up. Fashion design keeps my heart beating and my soul happy.

Fashionista: Splash of color

Style is knowing who you are, what you want to say, and not giving a damn.

Confidence is the most important factor in style; and nothing screams confidence more than crazy colored seperates- worn together. Make a splash in the most colorful outfit ever- but becareful on how you pair the color tones! i went with a splash of  light pastels with grey undertone and a solid basic top for this look since its already crazy enough. And who doesn't love color? It always makes me happy :)

outfit of the week:

Forever21 is really stepping it up and I must say that I am actually becoming a fan of their clothing. Some things still suck though, but quality and design wise, I'm generally liking their clothes. All their new stuff is so cute!

Basic knit tank $5.80 @ forever21.com

Pair with...

Paint splatter is awesome because its an easy and fun do-it-yourself! If you don't want to spend a bunch of money on this look, grab some skinny jeans with a good fit, a few pastel colors of paint (bright and bold might look tacky), and (literrally) throw them on the pants.

4 stroke Jeans $203 @ shopintuition.com

Pair with...

I would give my left arm for these amazing sequined shoes!!!!

Bergdorf Goodman Miu Miu Platform Pump $950 @ bergdorfgoodman.com

Accessory of the week:

I dont care if its summertime, but these are always cute with heels and a fun dress! Legwarmers <3

Ribbed Knit Leg Warmer $12 @ sockdreams.com

Random Item of the week:

Im obsessed with sushi...

ebi nigiri pillow $45  @ theoriginalsushipillow.com

What do you think of my picks for this week? What item would you love to have the most? I'm all about those sequin shoes! and the sushi pillow!

Fashionista: Destroyed and glamorous

The best thing about destroyed fashion? Such an easy D.I.Y! Take a look below at the style im loving for this week. I don't care if destroyed denim has been out since 05, its still cute in my book. And coming from someone who has not worn denim jeans for a whole year, I am definitley going to be wearing jeans that are ripped to shreds this summer.

Outfit of the week:

Edgy ripped jeans in any wash looks fierce, but instead of pairing them with lifted sandals and wife beaters (lol!), try a more luxurious detailed top to add a touch of feminine-ness (is that even a word) to your look!

Beyond Vintage beaded fringe top $264 @ nordstroms.com

Pair with...

valerie v yoke pocket skinny jeans $129.00 @ bebe.com

I love when people get creative with ripped jeans! Bebe rules at this. My favorite ripped jeans are a dark wash that looks like its gone through hell, as seen above.

Pair with...

Matiko Vaughn Wedge $168.00 @ urbanoutfitters.com

I love the glorious gladiator inspired heels! Definitley my pick to pair with ripped jeans; adding to my shopping list ASAP! These ones from UO are adorable...might just have to get them!!!

Accessory of the week:

Cupcake cuties lipgloss $10 @ karmakiss.com

CUPCAKE MAKEUP?! SOOOO CUTE! All the yummy without the calories...to die for :)

Random item of the week:

Fingerless lace gloves are my obsession right now and I have been wearing them often!

Find them online at places like amazon.com or even hot topic has cute ones sometimes! Usually under $20, these look awesome with a bunch of bracelets and fun cocktail rings =] LOVE IT.

Are you going to be wearing ripped denim this summer?? Or am I being out-dated? and what do you think of the gloves? Very Madonna-ish! :) Let me know!
